The second WORLD CULTURE FORUM

With 500 guests from various European countries, the 2nd WORLD CULTURE FORUM will take place in Dresden from October 8th-10th, 2009.

The Concept

The WORLD CULTURE FORUM is committed to the establishment of a healthy balance between the six facets of our culture, defined as: science, art, politics, religion, economics and media. For this reason, the WORLD CULTURE FORUM condemns the domination of any single cultural area, as it threatens our cultural balance and livelyhood.

The Main Objective of the 2nd WORLD CULTURE FORUM

The founding symposium for the WORLD CULTURE FORUM in 2007 established the predominence of economics in the cultural sphere. Especially in industrialized countries, the goal of creating and quantifying “measurable values” prevails. In issue number 31 of Spiegel, Professor Kurt Biedenkopf described this phenomenon as the “fetish of growth” and pointed out that has yet to be established whether our quality of life is necessarily increased by more economic progress.
The current world economic crisis shows, however, that we need new objectives, i.e., goals with substance that we can work on together.

Is the World Economic Crisis simultaneously a Cultural Crisis?

Our ambition is to create a „culture in balance”, an equal coexistence of mental, cultural,
religious and artistic values in addition to economical mindset
